History of Vietnamese Americans in Houston

This article discusses the history of Vietnamese Americans and Vietnamese immigrants in Houston, Texas and Greater Houston. Vietnamese immigration has continued to occur in Greater Houston, including Fort Bend County and Harris County, since 1975, after the Vietnam War ended and refugees began coming to the United States.〔Vu p. 28.〕 The earlier groups of refugees to Harris County, Texas, consisting of politicians, highly educated professionals, and military officers, arrived in the 1970s. Subsequent groups arriving in the 1980s and 1990s had fewer education and resources than the earlier group and were mostly refugees.〔Lee, Renée C. "(Report shows Asians a growing force in Houston )." ''Houston Chronicle''. February 8, 2013. Retrieved on February 11, 2013.〕
